Despacito is a 2017 song released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most popular streamed song in the world within 6 months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music not only brought interest back to the genre, but as well to Latin music as a whole. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish generally, and four songs in the year the year 2016. The Despacito album reached its peak popularity in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish were in into the Top 100. It climbed to 41 by 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 shortly after which famous artists started working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for some artists by the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, wanted to preserve the style. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and various other genres was a typical practice.
