She was born into the middle class family located in Los Angeles and had big hopes for the future. She was raised by a mother, who was a fan of movies. Paula was active with her school's cocurricular activities and particularly awed by the dramatic arts. She enjoyed being in stage shows with her friends. Although she was awed by working in the field, she wanted to become an actor. She started her career in acting with a role as Will Smith's co-star for the love story Hitch.
